3G sponsors ‘Catering Team of the Year’ Award

We recently sponsored the ‘Catering Team of the Year’ award, at Quantum Care Home’s annual staff awards ceremony. Quantum is a specialist residential care home company based in Welwyn Garden City, and the ceremony, which was held in May, celebrated the achievements of Quantum’s staff across a number of areas including care, catering and leadership. We were responsible for visiting and assessing the catering operation at a number of Quantum’s 27 residential homes across southern England, to determine which home deserved the first prize.
Kevin Turner, Southern Field Sales Manager for 3G, along with Quantum Care Home’s Area Managers, visited each care home that had been nominated for the Catering Team of the Year award, to observe the catering teams in action whilst making lunch for residents.
“I was delighted to be involved with Quantum’s annual staff awards”, said Kevin. “We always try to support our clients as much as possible, and thought this would be a great way to acknowledge the fantastic work these Chefs put in everyday. I visited several homes that had been nominated by staff and residents for their outstanding catering operation and I have to say I was very impressed with the standards of each team. We had to observe several areas including food safety protocol; organization and working methods; teamwork and food quality. We also took the time to chat to the residents, as their feedback was vital in the decision making process.”
“The quality of the food and service provided was our main focus in determining the winner. We finally came to a decision that Hyde Valley House in Welwyn Garden City should receive the first prize. It was really close between this care home and the runner up, Tye Green Lodge in Harlow, but Hyde Valley demonstrated exceptional teamwork – which gave them the edge.”
The Catering Team of the Year award presentation was held on the 9th May in Hertfordshire. Kevin attended the event to present trophies to the winning and runner up teams. “We are really pleased that 3G took part in our annual staff awards”, said Debbie McNiel, Marketing Manager for Quantum. “These awards are all about celebrating the real success of our catering staff, who are committed to providing tasty and nutritious meals for our residents. 3G’s input into the Catering Team of the Year award was much appreciated, and I look forward to working with them in the future.”
