3G burgers create a stir at the Ship & Mitre
September 22, 2008
The Ship & Mitre pub in Liverpool’s Business District has traditionally been famous for its selection of real ales and imported lagers. However, thanks to the hard work of David Burgan and his in-house catering company, the Burning Kitchen, the Ship & Mitre is now gaining a reputation for having some of the best burgers in town. We supply the Burning Kitchen with its most exotic range of burgers – premium Wild Boar and Bison burgers. These, along with the Burning Kitchen’s home made creations, are going down a storm with the Ship & Mitre’s clientele and create a real point of difference on the menu. In light of this, the Ship & Mitre was recently named as one of the best places to buy a burger in Liverpool by local lifestyle magazine, Liverpool.com.

We started to supply our Wild Boar and Bison burgers to the Burning Kitchen in July 2008, when the Burning Kitchen celebrated its first anniversary by launching a brand new menu. The new menu features our burgers, in addition to a selection of our fresh fish, jacket potatoes and McCain chips.
“I’m delighted with the quality of 3G’s produce”, said David Burgan, Proprietor of the Burning Kitchen. “The Ship & Mitre pub has a fantastic reputation for high quality ale and lager, and I really wanted to reflect this in the new menu, which is why I decided to work with 3G. 3G’s seafood offering is fantastic – always really fresh - and provides a real point of difference to my menu as no other place nearby offers fresh fish. The Wild Boar and Bison burgers are also delicious – they work brilliantly alongside my home made burgers and are really popular with the customers – old and young alike. They are unique too and fit in perfectly on my special burger menu.”
David continues: “I undertook extensive research of the local area before I devised the Burning Kitchen’s new menu, and you can’t get anything like these burgers in the area where the Ship & Mitre is situated. I was delighted when Liverpool.com named the Ship & Mitre as one of the best places to buy a burger. A lot of hard work has gone into making this a successful venture and working with 3G has made it much easier – they have been very helpful and I’m delighted with how things are going.”

Ben Smales, Managing Director of 3G Food Service & Seafood Solutions comments on the Burning Kitchen’s success: “It’s great to see one of our clients receiving the recognition they deserve for their food offering. The Burning Kitchen has built a fantastic reputation for itself in just one year and I’m delighted 3G has played a part in this success. We always aim to source products which will help caterers make their menus stand out from the rest – and it seems our Bison and Wild Boar burgers are doing just this at the Ship & Mitre!”
The Wild Boar burgers are made from Australian Wild Boar meat, which is light in texture and colour. The Wild Boar is leaner and denser than pork, but can be cooked in exactly the same way and is ideal when served with apple based accompaniments, or red cabbage with balsamic vinegar, mushrooms and parsnips. The Wild Boars used to make these burgers are 100% wild and have roamed and fed naturally all of their lives, allowing the meat to take on the characteristics of their environment.
The Bison burgers are made from North American ranched Bison (or Buffalo). Bison offers a hearty meat that is richer and sweeter than beef, but is cooked in the same way. The meat is also lower in fat and cholesterol than beef and is coarse chopped to give the burgers and sausages a lovely, grainy texture.
